this is by far the easiest way to set up a server
this guy made a program that does 99% of the work
for you
Server worked perfectly ONLINE. Now I'll have NO INTERNET for a while..
Now, anyone who has done this and know it works?

You have to use the right command to connect to your server once you have joined go to your steam account and look for that server in your history and add it to favourites and then it will be in the Rust servers list
connecting to the same machine hosting and playing on
client. connect localhost:28015
connecting to a machine on your network
client.connect (ipaddress):28015
so it would look something like this client.connect 192.168.1.24:28015
Thanks man. And this works offline? After first start online?
This time around I got something about "disconnect reason, EAC not active". lol.
Anyway. Got it working. Had to add the dedicated server manually as a favorite. Steam didn't see that on it's own.
But once I added it to the list, the name of the server came up.
Now, for the real test. With no internet connection.
Fingers and toes x-ed.
Thanks again for helping.
Exactly. That was kind of the whole point of this thread.
Rust CAN'T be played offline at all.
No way, no how.
Get this "Steam Auth Timeout" all the time. Due to the crappy anticheat. Rust can't connect to Epic, so it won't let you play single player even.
What a crappy game.
And you can't get around the anticheat offline either.
Even if they claim in a lot of "help pages" that you can play offline setting up a dedicated server. Wonder if any of them have actually tried it. Wall to wall misinfo, in my book.
Maybe we should start to use copies instead, until we again have full access to our own copies of the games.
It's correct what they say:
You don't buy the game, only the ability to play it.
That's not worth the full price of any "game".
Thanks for trying to help anyway.
Are you trolling or are you REALLY that dumb
There's gotta be some line of code somewhere to disable the steam auth process for offline but no one has figured where or what the command is :/ Ive been trying to set up offline rust before I go outta town for work and Ive been dealing with the same issue for a few days now
