How does the key lock work?

At one time or one server I was noticeing that if i died my door would be open when i came back to my building. I dont know if it was cause i lost the key or it disapeared. It also happened a few times with my code locked door. I died and came back to the building and it was open.

Keys stay in whatever inventory you keep them. So if you die with a key on you and the person finds your key lock door, he can get in. Code locks are a little trickier, but someone guesses your code they can use your door, or if you say the code out loud in chat or something. But it is also possible you simply left the door open while running out, thinking it was shut. Idk.

...well i figured out when i make the key for the lock i need to keep a second key somewhere to make another cause if i lose the first one i am screwed. I guess i need to read the updates and stuff. ....realy hard to have a building when u start out with out friends... and the package hiddin under ground dosent work for me i tryed it once and i cant get it back. craps always disapearing into the ground.
