Water Purifier Vanishing For The 2nd Time Now...

Hey Rust Survivors,


I don't know if I'm missing something here or not, but my Water Purifier has vanished twice already. I leave it by the beach, but it's turned off while I'm sleeping so that I don't waste wood for no reason. However, I come back online and it's gone.

This exact same thing happened while I left my base to explore and by the time I came back it's gone again. Is this a bug? If it's decay I thought it only affects foundations. I hope this is a bug, because there's no way I can keep this water purifier alive if it decays in 8 hours of no gameplay...

Could just be a bug but if you leave it outside it might be someone destroying it for a bit of fun. You never know who is hiding in the bushes

they did add decay but, it doesnt decay that fast

plus there a water purifier outside of my base and it hasnt decayed yet so I dont think it affects them

I think its tied to your camp fire. When the fire decays out the purifier must go with it cos ive lost a couple too.

Nobody was in my base. We had other stuff lying around and they're untouched, On our server we've got barely a soul and the ones who live there are sleeping in their house the way they have when I last checked them. So whatever it is, it's not players. As for the decay I haven't found any proof that it affects structures like the water purifier because our furnaces are outside too and they're with full "health". It's strange how it just vanishes. Oh and now that I come to think of it, I even had a fish trap which vanished pretty quickly. I just went in my house dropped some stuff, came out and it's not there anymore.

Alright, so I walked around my "castle" and realized that all campfires are gone. @herbalmcarchenon might be right, maybe it's got something to do with the fireplaces. However, that's strange and then how can we prevent this from happening? Each fireplace "decays" in different time, our newest fireplace is also gone but it's some hours "younger" than the other ones which also dissappeared. Is this a bug then perhaps?

As far as i know the purifier has to be on top of a campfire, so when the fire decays away the purifier has no "foundation" so it breaks too.
Havent read anything on it, just a possible reason

Decay was added to deployables a couple patches back. You'll need to have a tool cupboard within range of the deployable or it will eventually decay and despawn.

We've got a tool cupboard in our house and the fireplaces inside decayed too.

YES! this has happened to me too. i think the vanishing while the campfire is still there is definitely a bug not sure about once the campfire decays though. But if you look around above the campfire (when this happened to me anyway) the purifier is still there its just invisible. i used it like this for a while then i died and when i spawned back in my base it was visible again and stayed til i logged off

my campfire is inside my base like basically right next to my tool cupboard and it decays

fish traps decay by 10 every time you catch a fish

The 2nd purifier was built in the place of the first, nothing invisible for me :(
