Tips for calling in a supply signal solo?

Let's just say I got super lucky at a rad town and found a supply signal. Now I have no idea how I can call it in without getting raped by everyone on the server. I know I could build a courtyard but that poses some issues and would take a lot of space. Does anyone know some good side tips to call it in?

its a large map but current pop is like 190 out of 200

make a 1 by 1 with no roof and throw the signal in the middle and hope that it lands on the spot

or just make a 3 by 3 with no roof

Build a air drop room like the Vanical said, but on top of a base or tower that is at least three levels high, preferably out of triangle bases, cos you get a nice bit of room.

They seem to always land exactly on the smoke signal, not that I've had many of them, or had one in my hot little mits for than a few minutes before being blown away, but, the ones I did use, landed right on the money.

If you already have a base and access to the roof then simply put it it on the roof, as close to the middle, It doesnt matter if the beacon rolls, where you throw it is where the box will land

I just threw it on the boat and it fell right through it. i hope air drop comes!! UPDATE: I hear the plane!

Yep but don’t forget a diving mask and tank or your be buggered retrieving it from bottom of ocean

I just did it, so it works... supply signal in the mid of "Outpost" is a Thing!

you basically have 4 seconds to throw it, but it works
so... get naked... and put away everything on your task bar, then you scroll to it, throw it, with out aggro'g the guards... and wait for the drop! :D

Dont try to throw it on those boards in middle of ocean.. It despawned and stuff just sunk.. I couldnt manage to get it mid air and didnt have scuba gear so I dont know if you can dive to get it.
Rib boat seemed to have object fall through when dropped
