Is there anyway to fix this memory leak BS?
I just bought this and I have the recommended specs but I am getting horrible GPU usage drops and my memory is at 100% usage.

In like 10 mins.

Really?

I mean... is there anything to fix this? This is kind of preposterous for a game that has been out for years.

Even DayZ runs better than this game.

For most people, Rust plays pretty nice ! Unlike that piece of ♥♥♥♥ DayZ.

What's your spec ?

I get like 100 FPS in dayz SA

My PC is old but was a beast.

i7 930
gtx480
6GB tri channel corsair dom 1600 mhz
1 TB HDD

Like I said it's old but a beast of a PC.

I play Overwatch with high settings at 1080p 70FPS
I play GTAV at 60 FPS with med settings 1080p
DayZ? Yep, 100+ FPS out of cities and 40-50 in the biggest ones
Dead by Daylight - 40FPS
ARMA 3 - 30-50 FPS with high settings and 1080p

I have never experienced such memory leak as with this game.

It says 6GB for recommended specs. I figured I would have to fiddle with the settings but I have even tried the lowest of the low. It always drops my GPU usage because it taps my RAM almost instantly.

I mean, seriously... I get the whole early access thing but for your game to possibly use 16+ GB from other peoples accounts is just a farce.

This would make game two purchasd from Facepunch that I either don't want to play or can't.

Kinda disappointed.

get used to it. there hasn't been a performance update to help players out at all. Just more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to cater to those with super alien computers. I stopped playing because they couldn't fix the performance and the update where they ruined the fun out of the game by adding high quality metal.

I just can't fathom how this game takes upwards of 16GB of ram.

Sloppy coding is obvious. What is gross is the fact that there are tons of cosmetic items being put into the game rather than focusing on this colossal problem.

I expect things like this from Daybreak formely known as SoE. And even with recent dealings with Bohemia Interactive Serv. and their horrible business practices. Stiffling projects based off their same engine all the while not updating (performance) for ARMA 3.

With all those problems in other games, this is one of the worst I have seen. Shame on Facepunch for doing what every other developer is seemingly doing, especially with the advent of early access. This is going to kill gaming, as we know it.

I can name over a dozen titles that are/were in early access that will never come to fruition. Those aren't even the ones that are most noted as being scams but you can just tell that the development is moving at such a snails pace that the poor lil fella will dry out before it gets where it is suppose to be going.

I guess... Just chalk up another EA project that will probably never run right, let alone be finished.

Shame too, looked like halfway decent of a game.

it's funny also how devs and fanbois correlate it to "it's early access - alpha - you knew it would be broken" etc, etc.

No, no I didn't. I figured the damn game would work and not eat my ram like it was its last meal.

Although looking at the specs I should have double checked because I don't meet min, in regards to RAM.

Oh well... Doesn't matter because I would have to get 16GB it seems for it to even barely make a difference.

Still don't believe this game has a min rating of 8GB used instantaneously. That is stupid and the devs are obviously lazy or the engine sucks that badly. Possibly a combo of both.

Compared to yours, mine is a beast. But sorry man, you got a potato by todays standards.

you have a good pc not a beast tho

What kind of argument is that..."even dayz runs better than this game"....lmfao. It's like "Even doom 1 1994 runs better than this game".
I.Legend Jul 4, 2016 @ 5:31pm
All the games you mentioned are no where closed to being heavily CPU/RAM based as Rust. Not even the same genre. Only DayZ is compatible, but it's too old. Even maybe my potato computer can run DayZ.

But it's my potato.

=S

By todays standards I know it is weak.

I figured out how to play this game with 40 FPS

windowed at 900p with all my graphics turned off.

ouch. 93% RAM used

Yea, its a pretty unoptimized game. They've been working on it for awhile now and its gone through several changes, not all for the best. I'm just kind of waiting to see where it goes.

But honestly, Overclock your CPU and upgrade the GPU and ram, you would have a decent Pc for awhile still.

To be honest, the "recommend" settings are just about enough for you to just play the game. The "minimum" settings are worse, like to just open the game, you won't be sure if you can play it. And it's common known that Rust uses about 4-5GBs of RAM already let alone the Unreal Engine being famous with memory leak on these survival types (Ark, Rust).
the game commits more than 10GB of virtual memory, so you need at least 12GB for comfortable gameplay without swapping. Or if you have an ssd 8GB of RAM with large swap file on it.

ok tx for all the useless banter so the fix is?
drunkNun Dec 20, 2016 @ 2:22pm
There is no fix. And for the guy that said it works well on "super alien computers", it doesn't. I have 16gb of Corsair DDR4 3600 and rust starts off fine and works it's way up to using just a tad over 15 gb within about 10 minutes.
My setup is:
EVGA Z170 Classified K mobo
i7 6700k
16gb Corsair DDR4 3600
EVGA 1070FTW
