Why do people still play this game when cheating/hacking is rampant?

Why do people still play this game when cheating/hacking is rampant?

The only answer that makes any sense is that most everybody uses cheats/hacks themselves, otherwise I can't imagine legit players putting up with it. I've seen indications that the more experienced players use private scripts/hacks that aren't well known by the community, and they only turn them on when they absolutely have to. I overheard one player bragging how his cheat script appears as the Steam app so that it isn't detected.

However, I am delighted when I see people complain about how their accounts have been banned for cheating (although they all claim they're innocent just like everyone in prison, which is probably where many of the online cheaters are going to end up sometime in their life, a different type of criminal but nonetheless still a criminal).

You are an absolute idiot if you believe that the majority of players is cheating. It's a minority but a minority that's large enough to be really effing annoying... You can't imagine legit players putting up with it? We don't! That's why you see ppl getting banned very regularly, because we report cheaters... YouTube searches are not what anybody would call hard data. I could search for proof the earth is flat and get more hits than the search you did but the earth is not flat. Thats so desperate its sad to see. You got nothing but petty reports for trolling. Bet your a trump voter.

The more you throw your toys around and scream the funnier it gets. When some one has no argument they attack the person arguing with them not the argument. Nothing new or original there then. Lets see some hard numbers on the amount of cheaters compared to the overall number of players or your claims are just hot air based on your personnel experience and a youtube search.

Rampant cheating is already a proven thing in Rust, and isn't what this topic is about. Perhaps go back and read the original post.
