Game banned alt account?

Don't know if this is the right place for this but I don't understand what has happened, I found myself banned from a group of servers, mind you I hadn't played rust for about 4 months prior to discovering this. I submitted a ban appeal and this is the message I received:

"Your appeal has been reviewed and denied. You were banned for having a game banned alternative account on rust and playing without approval, due to evading your original server ban it is now permanent.
You will remain permanently banned across Rust Legends Servers."

I have only ever had one steam account and have never used any cheats. I can still play most servers except these few. Im wondering if somehow this happened due to me moving house and changing internet providers but it honestly doesn't make much sense to me.

Would someone perhaps be able to clarify what might have happened or point me in the right direction to find out?

You got server banned. It means that the admin decided to ban you from its servers (Rust Legends Servers). You can play in any other.
