Extreme rust server lag

I have been having a problem recently where I join any rust server and I get really bad connection lag spikes where I cant move items in inventory, loot bodies or chests or open doors for up to 2 or 3 minutes and then everything catches up, runs fine for a few more minutes and then repeats. I can run every other game online with no lag at all, it seems to be only rust with this problem.

The game was fine about a week or 2 ago but it's only recently started to lag like this. My PC runs rust absolutely fine, 60-80 fps on Simple and my ping is around 15-30ms.
I have no idea what the problem is and many Google searches turned up empty. The game is literally unplayable in this state and I'm wondering if anyone has had the same problem and managed to find a fix for it.

Things I’ve tried:

Rebooting PC
Lowering graphics settings
Restarting router
Disabling Firewall
Quitting Skype, Teamspeak etc.
Verifying Game Cache
Redownloading Rust

I've had the same problem. Idk the thing that fixed it for me is going into a 0 people server.

You're not alone with this issue. I get the same thing. Works fine one day, the next, it's completely unplayable.

Same. Probably the graphic overhaul. At the first day of the update it was fine. Now I have FPS drop, spikes every few minutes.
