You want to get in line because the wait is worth it, you do just that.
Otherwise you choose something else...
Devs dont need to solve your personal issue of being impatient.
As I said it's purely a "you" problem.
Yes of course I take the entitled perspective as a customer of Facepunch. And as a company, facepunch should eliminate every aspect that is preventing THEIR customers to use THEIR own product. Otherwise, what's the point? And yes there is the option to play on community servers, but the first option, and the official option that facepunch want's us to use, are the official servers. So I'm going to use them...
This seems like an impossible problem to solve, but i'm just pointing out the problem that is preventing me to play their game.
I have never seen such problems with other games tho.
You've been presented with alternate options, you have numerous options and the experience is far better with said options. You bought the game; that is what they sell. Their official servers are just that; somewhere to play. You bought the game, not the server to play on.
Black Friday people wait in long queues, only so many people are generally allowed in stores at a time for Security, monitoring, and overall prevention of chaos for places that know what they're doing. They're not preventing customers from entering their store overall; you just have to wait your turn.
Traffic lights hold up so many cars based off of pre-determined timings and/or sensors, you pulled up last - should the light change just because it's an inconvenience for you to have to stop so others that were waiting longer in the other directions can go first?
Their product is the game, their server is optional, the weekly skins is optional, VIP is optional. No one is saying they want you to use it; it's there because it's official, anything beyond capacity requires waiting.
Either buy VIP or sit in line and be quiet, else you can go to a server where there's plenty of players and no immediate queue, with active mods/admins that prevent cheaters unlike the facepunch server.
You've been given solutions, pick one.
"Other games" generally arent as popular or otherwise have the playerbase stretched out on specific servers. Even some CS:S servers have queues, as do Garrys Mod servers, and many other games out there depending on popularity; with very long queue times due to the people that play and how long they play.
Or, go make a 500 slot server and let us know how that works out.
Yes, on Black Friday's (that is a good example) there are long queues for the particular store, and that is a problem itself. The store would sell way more if they had figured somehow to fasten the queue and make people go in and out faster.
Now, I don't care if this is solvable issue or not, I don't care. It just annoys the ♥♥♥♥ out of me that I have to wait 1-4 hours (depending on wipe days) to get in to their official servers. And don't give me that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that I bought the game and not their servers... The servers must be included in the purchase, otherwise what's the point of the whole game if there is no servers? Is a huge corporation like Facepunch going to depend on community to make servers for them? Nah I don't think so...
You being annoyed whereas most players have patience or select other servers doesn't mean there's inherently some super global issue that must be dealt with and must be dealt with now - as that's some karen level stuff right there.
So yes - you bought the game which is the sole product, and they provide a Courtesy of having official servers. People spend money to make and host their own servers and they're completely superior to FP servers. Nowhere does the game state that buy buying the game that game servers are included or guaranteed, it's a Courtesy and nothing more. VIP also helps pay for hosting servers - which even many community/modded servers provide as an option to keep the optional service operational. FP can likely afford the outright costs, but it's business; an offset of operational costs by giving someone an added benefit that gives no advantage in the game itself other than being able to enter first; hence VIP. It's not like they're being given M249s, launchers, rockets, c4 and a copy/paste base at coordinates of their choosing.
They're also not so much of a Big Corporation; they're listed as only having 11-50 employees, which is not a "Big Corporation"; they're a small company. It started with one person that made a mod, do you think every game that sells high copies is some huge corporation? Plenty of Indie games sell tons of copies and they're as little as 2-3 people.
Game = Product
Official Server = Courtesy service
If everyone had access to same lobby all the time (stupid logic because of real player limits of a server) then what benefit would separate VIP players who pay for this benifits get?
But a VIP, or wait in line like everyone else.
Do you think I haven't tried that already? When the official servers wipe, they have +100 queues in literally 5 minutes and I'm not even kidding.
Nah, I have been there it is still much more fun when the server actually has players in it and you can actually kill something.
And I'm sure a lot of people feel this way about the game.
Jesus, do you seriously think that I have not tried different servers. I have almost 700 hours of playtime in this game...
