i don't really see the issue personally, just changed the AK/LR/MP5
meta up a lil, now the SMG's and the sar are viable even late game at range
but still get destroyed up close.

lets be honest, beaming someone at 200m+ before they seen you was pre cheese
and wasn't fun to the receiving player. fights are more interesting now
as alot more fights are close 'n personal now.

snipers are actually pretty useful now for range.

Really?, where did they say that?, I've only heard that from people on the internet, what the devs have said is;

"Perfectly replicated recoil also meant that mouse scripts could be abused to put 30 rounds on target at 200m, every time."

Even if they said what you're claiming, it has the by-product as cheats will potentially be broken for a short time.

Even if they said what you're claiming, it has the by-product as cheats will potentially be broken for a short time.
a short time as in maybe a day? maybe two?, the people that make the scripts make money off those scripts, there is constant updating and basically is their job. Doesnt have to be one person and can be a company or a group of strangers doing the same project. i dont see how the update changed cheating tbh, ♥♥♥♥ easier to script i guess.

easier scripts would be the old recoil, not randomized recoil from the new update, you cant script random recoil, at best any script made for the new recoil, will barely work.

this is exactly what the dev said and the update was for.

Recoil

The old recoil system in rust had some issues. It was loved by some, and hated by others.

If you didn't have hundreds if not thousands of hours practicing the recoil in rust, Firing at people in the game would often feel like attempting to align two like poled magnets. Frustrating would be an understatement.

Ultimately, being good at first person shooters and having the drop on someone wasn't good enough. If the other person had thousands of hours of training their aim you stood very little chance.

This was fun for people who could spend thousands of hours training their aim, or morally bankrupt individuals who would choose to use scripts to gain an advantage. This was not fun for 99% of the population, and it's time for a change.

Instead of pattern based recoil, we now implement a gradient based aim drift and inaccuracy for automatic weapons. That is to say, the longer you hold down the trigger, the more inaccurate the weapon becomes. It still takes skill to try and keep it centered on the target, but it is not the same with each burst. We've also updated aimcone (inaccuracy of bullets relative to where you are aiming )to use a weighted system, so that roughly 20% of the shots will land in the center. This means that automatic fire at a long range effectively decreases DPS. This encourages players to use the right weapons in the right situations and to improve their tactics and burst discipline. There should be less 200m beaming going on. What this has done is compressed the skill ceiling, and we think this is a good thing.

In addition to the aforementioned recoil changes, we went through and modernized some other elements of the 'first person shooter' experience.

love the changes. this is in line with most FPS games who have tried to make recoil more real. Like Tarkov and others.

ADS gun play is not a skill. its an exploit. the gun fight should be won on accuracy. not how fast you can ADS

you can still ADS by the way. Just not as much

and any admin who spectates them, or recieves a video of them doing it can just insta ban. No more crying "but my spray training"... you will just get banned. At the least, a server ban. Which is enough for the ppl playing on the server.

i didnt see they had said that. Thats HILARIOUS seeing that so many ppl came here claiming the devs said it wouldnt help against scripters. Soooo many salty cheaters.
