Authentication Timed Out

I've had Rust since 2014 but only recently felt like playing it. What's happening though is that I might get on for maybe 10 minutes and deal with insane amounts of rubber-banding, or usually what happens is I get disconnected... or cannot connect to any server thanks to EAC Authentication Timed Out.

I have EAC set to automatic, and this and DayZ (another one I've recently reinstalled) are the only games that do this to me.

Any ideas?

I get the same issue... had the game since launch, finally decided to start playing (Rustralasia 9) and getting EAC Timed out issues as well. The one time I got onto a server, rubber-banding issues (and ultimately a server kick).

Anyone have any ideas?

this used to happen on my mac but since i got a windows machine it has been fixed.

Happening on a local server, like local in my basement. It's steam...again.

Same here. played an hour ago, logged out for an hour or so and now I can't connect to the server because of Steam Auth timeout..

Edit: just started working again

Fixed on mine. I went to the local files, located the rust.exe and ran it from there. for me the file was located C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rust I ran the exe as administrator just to be safe. Good luck!
