Constantly being banned for "Ban Evasion"?
i know i'm gonna get a ton of hate for this, but i am constantly being banned for "ban evasion" from rusty servers specifically.

here's a bit of background about my other profile:
i played rust on my old profile, and i played it quite frequently. i then started playing cs:go and was vac banned for "cheating". now not only do i have to live with that, but i also had to buy a whole new account. so, i made this account and bought rust. i log on, nothing is linked on this profile to my old one. i join in, and i get banned from the server instantly for "ban evasion". why is this happening?

1. i was vacced in a completely different game
2. nothing on this account is linked to my other
3. i bought the game for myself and i'm not using family sharing

what's up with this? i mean, rust TOS says that you are allowed to play the game even after a game ban, no matter what. thanks for your help.

Some servers check for VAC bans on a user's account, and autoban them accordingly. You've probably went to the servers before on your old account and the server detected a match between your IP and the IP of the old account.

Server adminis aren't all dumb bricks with little **cks. Some actually know what they're doing and have zero tolerance for cheaters. They more than likely saw you using the same IP address, did some simple math and banned you. Don't cheat and you won't get banned. It's that simple.

Is ban evasion a thing tho? like do you get banned for ban evasion even if you werent cheating?? Cuz I want to buy rust again but not if Im just going to keep getting banned over and over.

You've been IP banned. I'm not going to tell you how to fix this either because it is a form of ban evasion. If you're trying to get back onto a server that banned you, you're on your own.

I know this post was a while ago but Ive been a Rust server owner for a while now and only the last answer was actually correct! Admins/owners can Ban you in different ways, they can choose to ban your Steam account or the more popular way they can ban your IP, usually when we ban a hacker we do "Both" as if we ban an IP they could use a VPN to easily get back on our server and if we just ban the Steam account most hackers will have several Steam accounts already, I dont want to say the obvious way around this just in case you are a cheater though :)

Just remember that many internet connection types will assign a new IP to users every time they connect, so someone else might be IP banned by mistake. That's why IP bans should only be used for a limited time.

Yup. Considering a vast portion of ISPs use DHCP to distribute their IP addresses, permanent IP banning is ridiculously dumb. IP bans should only be temporary in any ban situation.

Stop being a toxic little ♥♥♥♥ ok he asked for advice not a smart ass remark.
That's not a smart ass remark. That's fact. If he told him how to ban evade that'd cause him to be banned.

OP is asking if ban evasion is punishable. Yes it is. He can be told that the act is a bad one because it is.
