horse despawn?

how do i get a horse not to despawn? I had the horse in a room with a trough that had food in it, the horse even went up to the trough and snapped into place, but the next morning it was gone

it died sadly if it has full stamina it stops eating and dies cause rust

My horse de-spawned with saddle bags and horse shoes. I will need a better explanation. Because of RUST? So it is a bug? Kinda major don't you think? This should have been fixed years ago.

Has anyone actually figured this out? If I leave the game for 10 hours my horse is gone. There's still food in the trough

Having this happen on modded server with vehicle decay protection and enclosures ...

I think folks steal it. I had mine at my base for days, logged out for several mins, when i logged back in he was gone, and so was the contents of my super secret satchel, and my base was raided.
Next time i just put my valuables in the satchel and when i came back the contents were gone, but my base was left alone and i got a new horse in place of my old one.
