Horses Despawn rate?

Just wondering is there any reliable way to keep horses from despawning over night.

Tried pretty much everything from buying a horse from stables to putting over 100 bits of food in the trough for it but no matter, every time I log back in the next day its despawned

Do you not know about the horse feeder? Just walk them to them and add food, they will survive as long as there is food.

This is not normal. What kind of server are you playing on ? Some (many?) 'community' servers are set up and maintained by individuals who have no fricking clue what they are doing, consequently your mileage may vary...

I had several horses go missing when I logged back in. Is this a bug? Irritating when they had horseshoes and saddle bags.

If they were in a secure area with sufficient food and thus were not stolen or starved to death, they could still have been removed by the server depending on settings and admin actions. If it's a server with active admin or an associated discord server you could investigate there, otherwise if it's an official or random server you're probably out of luck.
