Mic not working

When I press v for push to talk, the mic icon is there, but when I speak its not lighting up green. I have tried every possible solution I could find and nothing has worked.

go to sound settings and set your mic up as the one you want to use

get to the sound control panel and get to the recording tab and make sure that your mic/headset is set as default communication device (right click it and choose if it isnt)

the microphone plays back inside of the steam friends overlay perfectly, yet when i launch rust the ingame voice doesnt get picked up by the steam settings when i press TAB + SHIFT

The microphone icon appears ingame and also doesnt seem to pick up the audio
PLEASE I SEE MULTIPLE PPL W THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO ANSWERS
