Yes, most games don't even need 16 and 32 is overkill on almost everything by a long shot. More of the focus is on the GFX card you have and processor than ram.

yup i run it with 8gb ram everything is off or low in settings. I can only play on medium to small size of maps tho :(

Yeah, Can but with stuttering on game and on fight moments tottaly stuttering by 1s~3s.

I start to play with 8gb-ram, 2gb-vram with SSD, and upgrade to 16gb-ram. Tottally amazing to play with 16gb!

Absolutely not. This topic is 3 years old and even back then it was not possible.
The minimum is 10 GB and if you try to run it with 8 you will see a red warning telling you that 10 is the minimum. There is very high chance that you will not even load the game.
I have tested running on 8 Gb & it`s not playable at all. You need minimum 16 GB just to be a farmer but you will be destroyed in any type of pvp unless your opponent is also running it on a potato pc. You need very high end configuration to play Rust normally.
