This is why most people kill on sight. You cannot trust anyone but your long time friends, this is rust. This is worse than purge in a region/state/country.
You might make a peace contract with one of your neighbors, but the next time you go offline you'll get raided by the same neighbor so you don't do it first to him. These are fake peace contracts, and most of the times never work out.
When I had less hours than now I tried to be friendly, only a handful of people were friendly to me in return, that includes a small duo with high hours which I joined and they taught me to not trust anyone, to not feel bad for another player because they would have killed you at any opportunity they'd have without even thinking about helping you up like you helped them. They "raised me" in rust. Most of "no KoS" moments resulted in me either running away from shots or straight up dying because I did not shoot first.
And you should kill someone if they are naked. They are as much of a thread as a normal player. You never know when one might pull out an eoka and shoot you in the head stealing all your gear from your still warm corpse. Of course, this rule of killing nakeds really shouldn't apply if you are killing them from the safety of your roofcamping tower. Roofcamping in general is scummy, don't do it, or I will find you.
what he said
Jokes aside, long ago i played rust in minecraft version and there was reputation system. It grew over time and decreased after killing. If you were above 0 you kept you attire and hotbar items after death, and if below 0 you didn't keep anything.
Pity there is no chances for something like that in actual rust. Game could be way less toxic and frustrating and KOS players still could kos and have some benefit of it.
never tried them nor want to, but you should play there if you can't handle people killing on site and taking your loot.
regardless, as others have mentioned here you signed up to a pvp survival game
there are plenty others that are about teamwork that you could play if you do not like
this system that rust has. Just because a game is popular doesn't mean you have to play it
you clearly are not happy with the way this game plays
so why continue to play it?
Maybe getting some more experience instead of waiting AFK in the menu screen would be a good idea. Then you would actually learn something.
"casket maker
Soul taker, your life is
Priceless
Especially on the black market
If you're alive and breathing
Then you're a moving target
Which means you can be hit
And the quickest lickity split
Lay down in the ground
Surrounded by a casket
That I built
Out of warped woods and drift wood
Rusted railroad spikes
Collected from the neighborhood
Skilled in the family trade
I'm center stage
In the most horrific side of me
You'll ever see is like an instinct
Some sort of nervous twitch
I'll stack the bodies 10 high
And bungee cord them to the trailer hitch"
So if everyone didn't kill first there would be zero killing, your logic is flawed.
Being naked - I frequently spawn in a bag near random monuments naked and do runs for various things, most of the time when I'm naked I have around 300+ scrap, 50+ hqm, 1-2k metal frags and numerous components like, weapon bodies, pipes, etc., maybe a couple of hundred crude oil and enough wood to refine it at the outpost. Nakeds are most certainly worth killing, also I try attacking guys building bases and have bows when I'm naked, either with a rock or some other melee weapon I've found, what do I have to lose?, Nakeds can be dangerous cos they gots nothin to lose.
