Can't place fireplace?
It's against the wall, and it's blue, yet I can't place it.

Seems to be a height issue. Try building it on a foundation that has no roof over it.

I have the same issue. I don't think it's a height issue because I was able to place one in a different base with only a wall's height, not a double wall or half wall added to regular wall. I wondered if it had something to do with windows. The first fireplace I placed in a room with no windows. The second time was in a room with windows. I had place the glass windows in the frames, but I wonder if it considers it to be outside if you have windows.

There has to be a floor peice directly above it, at any height.

I wasn't having an issue of it not placing while blue. My issue was that I was trying to place it inside a building with windows instead of walls and it would never get blue to place.

Replaced all my windows with walls and it placed no problem.

OK for what it's worth, I've confirmed you still can't place a large fireplace in a room with windows that aren't covered with shutters or something similar. I spent a solid minute trying to place one with no window covers, but once I put shutters on *and closed them* it dropped right in.
