Why is my game capped to 60fps
i know i am perfectly capable of running this game at my monitors refresh rate because i used to be able to. Idk what happened to the game but i am unable to play above 60fps anymore. i have looked online and i tried setting the fps limit and i set it to unlimited but still nothing. i know this game is poorly optimised but the thing i dont understand is that i used to be able to play above 60fps no problem but now even on the potato graphic setting and getting everything really low it is still stuck at only 60fps. i have even tried videos that help optimise the game but they didnt work either. can someone help me plz

specs:
gtx 1080ti 8gb vram
i7-8800 3.6GHz (4.6GHz turbo boost)
16gb ram
860W power supply

Yes, I understand that, but for informational purposes, you didn't put down the command you'd used and sometimes people screw up thinking they're using the right command when they actually aren't. It was just info to reference just in case you'd made a mistake somewhere. Did you also turn off V-Sync?
nevermind, i figured it out. it is because i had set g-sync for fullscreen and windowed gams and rust didnt like that. also my refreshrate on nvidia control panel was set to 60Hz (eventhough other games go above that no problem)
Rust is a strange one, for sure. Glad to see you got it sorted.

If you are on windows 10 have you tried right clicking the game .exe in the steam folder and then unchecking the box that says "disable fullscreen optimizations" in the compatibility tab?

1.) Disable V-Sync in video options.
2.) Press F1 to open console.
3.) Enter 'fps.limit X' (without quotes) into the console followed by the frame rate number you want in place of X. Replace X with -1 to uncap frame rate.

See below examples.

Example 1: fps.limit 100

Example 2: fps.limit -1 (for uncapped frame rate)

i dont see v-sync in the video settings. that was my first guess as to why it does that but i cant find where the setting is located. or do i have to turn it off from somewhere else?
