But again, zero information online about this, besides what's in the patch notes.

This is why most people play in groups.
My advice to OP is to find 1 or 2 more friends to play with one of which preferably in a timezone 6~8 hrs away from yours. That way it's easier to coordinate when to repair the copters.
^
The search goes on!
It's a bad one too since it does not effect clans since they have people on rotation to repair helis and keep their armada while the casual player now can't keep one in the base.
Crash, did you find that changing the server variable worked, for copters kept outside? If so, can you paste the line from your configuration file?
I attempted the same thing you did - by adding a line to my server.cfg...
From what I could tell, this had no effect. Copters stored outside were decaying at the same rate as those kept inside, and at a rate much faster than this setting could indicate. I've found several sources that have sited this variable, but in short I haven't seen any reason to believe that it works.
In general, I can definitely live with indoor decay, but we server admins need to be able to change both indoor and outdoor decay.
I'm not sure yet, Ill do more testing. Keep me notified if you found a solution :)
I suspect we're stuck waiting for a future release to gain control over these server settings.
RIP, but thanks anyway for the research. Let's indeed hope for some more configuration options to disable the decay :)
