Gtx 1660 performance
Does anyone have a gtx 1660? How is performance? I’m considering an upgrade to an EVGA 1660 Xc gaming from a gtx 1060 3gb

In my opinion, the performance is a decent jump, but buying an entirely new card with a majority ~20 FPS difference on benchmarks/games doesn't totally justify the cost, however this is my opinion. For yourself - that is entirely up to you and the budget you have or are otherwise willing to spend. ~20+ FPS difference is quite good though.

The more future proof way to go would be to upgrade your CPU, although that would likely also force you to upgrade your mobo and possibly RAM as well. If you can hold out with your current card, in the long run, you'd end up with a better system that will last you longer by the time you are able to upgrade the GPU, and by then your options to do so will likely be cheaper/better value.

his cpu is fine lol its actually a pretty decent cpu, as for the gpu upgrade i'd go for a 1660ti over the normal 1660 if you can't spend the extra 60-80$ then the rx 580 is only 5-10% slower and is usually 25% cheaper then the normal 1660 so if your looking to get something within the 250-300$ range i'd get the rx 580 or if you can the 590 over the regular 1660, its just not worth

I didn't say there was anything wrong with his CPU, I was basically pointing out that if he were to upgrade his GPU, then that would likely be the last upgrade that system would get before needing a complete rebuild. Since the card he has is adequate, why not just start with the rebuild, and have room to upgrade later and have a newer system sooner and for longer. There's nothing wrong with his current CPU, but thinking about down the line I would think he would be happier with a new build, with a better price on an upgraded GPU in a couple months, than getting that new GPU now for more money and having to stick with that system only to do the rebuild anyway later and stick that GPU right in it. Make sense?
