My computer slows down after playing rust (help)
So after i play rust for a while and deciede to quit it. My computer slows down its only noticeable untill i go into other games lower fps and slower rendering of things. Restarting my computer fixes all this. Is it rust doing this since its only after rust?

Same problem, starts off alright, after a couple hours of playing rust my entire pc runs extremely slow, unusable, and needs to be restarted, closing rust doesn't revert it. Same thing happened when playing ARK.

A few things to try.

Make sure rust has closed properly in task manager.

Could be caused by low ram esp if you only have 8gb! You can solve this by clearing your system cache.

On lower end systems for games like Rust 'open world' it is good to have a decent amount of pagefile 6 or 8gb is what i would recommend!

Maybe you pc is over-heating running Rust.

I got 16 gb and i got water cooling in my pc keeping it a steady 50 degres on maxium performance

From what i can gather it sounds like a memory leak in the game but if it was wouldnt everyone get that then?

game most likley has a memory leak, which would be causing your pc to slow down.

only way to fix it without restarting your pc would be using a program to clear your ram.

could also upgrade and get more ram and not have that issue at all.

dont bother messing with your paging file, that is not recommened and the only time a paging file gets used is when you run low on ram, always let windows manage your paging file size.

so in general, either deal with the issue and use a program to periodically clean your ram, or upgrade past 16GB and not deal with the issue at all (unless the game has a huge memory leak issue and it can eat more than 16GB, which i highly doubt).

i have 64GB, no game with memory leaks bothers me :steamhappy:

Memory leaks folks. Rust is more than well known for memory leaking. It's also known for memory exploitation too. Very well known.

memory exploitation?
Code injection.

Actually I will explain further. I know I was short with my response, but that pretty much sums it up. Cheaters are able to inject code into memory address ranges to compromise code to thus cheat. Such things can cause things ranging from buffer overflows or underruns as a way to crash applications, but it can also be used as a means to cheat by altering the software that is loaded into system memory.

Rust tends to not unload properly either because of the nature of its design. Sometimes code resides in memory that can't be dumped unless you scrub the memory or reboot.

Normally when software is closed, it's supposed to unload itself from memory as instructed by the programming within the software, but Rust has a long history of not doing this properly.

basically cheat engine LUL

all game(s) memory are prone to that, havent seen a game made yet that cant have that done...

Yes, but with Rust, it's an exceptional note because the same problems keep recurring every single year update after update. Please, stop making excuses for this game's bad design.

Will you refund bf1 too because you spawned in as an afro american instead of a white american?
