FPS on 2080 Ti is not as expected...
is rust really that un optimized?:steamsad::steamsalty:

So with the 980 Ti i would get 60-80fps on max settings 1440p, now with the 2080 Ti i get 60-80 fps on high and 70-100 fps with all settings at absolute minumum expect tree meshes

Im wondering...is this normal? Is rust more dependent on cpu? I feel like i should be getting more performance on rust, every other game i play runs 1440p 165hz with no problem on high settings (I play on ~250 pop servers)

PC Specs:
GIGABYTE Z170X-Gaming 7 Motherboard
Core i7 6700k CPU @4.00GHz
EVGA GeForce GTX 2080 Ti
Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x8GB Ram
Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x16GB Ram (Yes i have 48gb of ram its kinda unorthodox)
Corsair RM750 Power Supply
Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD

1.) rust is not well optimized, regardless of what facepunch claims, 2,) this could be a software issue, or something using a lot of memory/cpu power
3.) if you want good FPS, try running on good settings, 2080 ti should crush this game, but I have been hearing a lot of issues with the rtx drivers, this could be an nvidia thing

Rust is not well optimized at all! There are so many things wrong with the game, it's like they abandoned it because it's still in early access. Try upgrading your driver's, verifying rust's cache. There is almost nothing you can do about it. You just have to stick to the fact that this game is poorly made, unoptimized, insane ram leakage, many bugs and errors, etc. I'm sorry to say this, but you may have to stick with your 40 or so for max settings (or whatever settings you chose to play on)

it left early access tho...ive been playing since 2017 and they havent really done anything as far as optimizing goes, such a shame cuz with 2500 hrs, rust is definitely my favorite game

It sure is a shame. I've said that many times on this game. Pretty terrible how face punch studios neglect their most money making games. Hopefully they fix it soon, I hate to see someone like you spend alot of money on some of the best graphic cards out there, but can't get the full experience.

The UI in this game is absolute trash. Plus we still can't switch screen resolutions while in game. That's like a normal thing with every other game on the market. Facepunch has sunk all their time into adding content, while giving two shats about anything else. Optimized? lol Never gonna happen.

It's actually pretty well optimized, but it's also doing a lot.

I put Rust in the same category as iRacing and ArmA. There's a lot of single lane work being done because math and it's almost always going to be CPU and Server bound.
