Rust Startup Crash Info - Citrix Workplace
I just wanted to posted this in case it helped someone. I've been experiencing a startup crash when launching Rust (game never loaded past splash screen) for many weeks now. I was getting a Event ID 1000 for "Faulting Application Name is bad_module_info" in the Windows Application Event Logs. I tried everything to fix it, uninstalling/reinstalling the game, steam itself, EAC, compatibility mode changes, etc. - nothing worked.

Turns out it is related to using Citrix Workplace 18.10.

If I launched Rust with "RustClient.exe" from the games installation folder it generated a more detailed application error (Event ID 1000 for "Faulting module name: UnityPlayer.dll".) which led me to finding the Citrix problem after google searching. Apparently, the UnityPlayer.dll error is caused by the Citrix Workspace application. After uninstalling Citrix, Rust now launches without issues.

Hope this helps someone from pulling out their hair in the future.

I had the same issue. Uninstalled the Citrix app, and problem solved.

I had to use Google Translate, but do you have Citrix workstation installed? Try uninstalling it.

Quick follow up - I installed a newer version of Citrix Workplace (18.12) and this does not have the issues that 18.10 did with bad_module_info and UnityPlayer.dll. I can now play rust and use Citrix without issues.
