How Do I Get Better at PVP
Combat Tags... UKG... you know the deal.
I've played these servers for hours. I've shot at bots with the revolv, M92, an AK and LR-300 until my finger hurt. I shot targets of all ranges, trying to get the AK spread down. On a good day, I can get the spread and recoil of these guns down, and bam, I join in a server and start to farm. I farm and farm, and I build a base as I go.

There's my first pvp encounter. My hands shake, my heart beats quickly. I don't know how to defend myself. I am at a point that if I had a semi and a bow in my hotbar, I would instinctivly grab the bow because the semi scares me. I think I would have a better shot at an underdog weapon I am good with than a gun that I can't control.

I practice on these servers for hours and hours. I practice at least one hour every day before I go into a server. I will not play Battlefield servers. They are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and I don't care what you guys say, they do not teach me how to look around and such... its the kind of server that is wide open and you can get shot from three sides by an L96. Not worth it. I am more comfortable practicing with targets...

The problem is, I can't get anywhere in combattags and UKG! How am I supposed to get better when I have the admins of the servers which have 3k hours in the game and have played 300 hours of their own server, and anyone else that is more proficient in pvp than me and joins combattags and UKG and just wrecks me. I can play gun game and get 22 dmg in the whole match.

Yes, I know. Low sensitivity... deep breaths. That works for me just fine in ctags and UKG, but in the real world, where I am actually defending something I have spent hours to produce, only for some toxic squeaker with an ak and 600 hours more than me because he doesn't have a life, he's only ~12, comes by and kills me, and thinks its funny to wipe my base off of the map. Square one.

I have 250+ hours, i have the same issue, i think its psychological i played a lot on x20/x10/x5 servers to not care if i lose my stuff and it helped, now if i log in into a normal server at first i'm hitting most of the shots until i die and lose my stuff. its all about confidence, helps if you have someone to play with

i am decent on all weapons except the ak now after all the recoil changes

Like someone else said, a lot comes to trust yourself, something that you dont appear to do much. While I understand that confidence comes with skills too, you got to bust yourself a bit and try hard :), lot of people really try hard in Rust.

Do you play with a headset? Audio es very important in this game.

While I do understand the hand shaking and heart pumping because I had it in Rust or other games, you should work on that. There is a chance that you might be afraid of dying and losing your ♥♥♥♥, don`t! You already know you will eventually lose it, just embrace it, have fun, etc.

I mean I am sure you don`t get your heart pumping when you fight rock vs rock, there is nothing to lose.

If you play with fear to die or lose your stuff you will never get good either. Use the sounds, use the bushes, the shadows, etc, if you are not that skilled (yet) be smart. Use your knowledge from other pvp games, when to push, when to peak, etc, again trust youself. When you die try to think what you could have done better or different and don`t be too hard on you, will only get you frustrated. Also try to lower your expectations for now.

There is also a chance you are just an average player, nothing bad with it, you will eventually get better but it will take time, have fun with what you can do and enjoy your gaming, after all we should be having fun, even in Rust.

Thank you for putting time in your response. Really helped me. I will try that. I have played all kinds of pvp games. DayZ and all that... I have tried to find a youtube video with the sounds of different guns from distance. What an AK sounds like... Mp5... etc. I have a lot of trouble with just running toward gunshots when I have a weapon. Sometimes I *do* think that "hey, it's fine. I'll get it all back or lose it later anyway" But I run towards a guy with an AK. (Hey, NO ONE can be good with the ak with this new recoil!) Haha, somehow they shoot me from 300 metres + while I get a few bodyshots with a semi....

Yes, I do play with a headset, but I cant hear anything! If you crouch, there's no point! A lot of people sneak up behind me.

Hey np man, sounds in Rust can be strange, you will hear things from really long distances but sometimes it is hard to tell if it is like 20 or 50m away, but it is easy to tell if it is like really far.

Well if you plan to kill someone that has an ak, I would try to sneak on them. If he is decent with the ak just has to tap it from that distance so he has the advatage.

Exactly people is very sneaky in Rust, most of the times you think no one is near, but probably thats not true, always think someone might be close. It is tough and sometimes is just a matter of will to continue despite everything.

i also practise with low sens but in real time fight, i'm just scared and i lose, the key for winning in anything is practice and practice, also stick with the lr because it is the best weapon

I have 1.8k hours n I got over this a while ago, I can maybe join you for a few hours if you like? Seems like your too invested if what you’ve farmed and maybe have a lack of game sens. Try watching good rust youtubers (not Jordan rants or some of that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) berne n taunted are good. Ctag there is no risk of loosing anything so you need lots more experience. Are you playing solo or in a group?

I am a good defensive pvper. I have a group that I roll with but I definitely go solo quite frequently. When I am in a group I am normally the guy that farms or stays behind and defends the base.

I think you should tone it down with the bots and practice with real players, on a battlefield or somewhere else since you don't like those.

You won't get anywhere if you just know how to use weapons in a situtation were no one fights back or moves randomly or you have nothing to lose.
