This game sucks

Spawn, run for 5 minutes to try and find stones. Can't forge metal unless you luck out and spawn near someone else's furnace. Can't eat or drink anything unless you luck out and find someone else's crops/unlocked base. Assuming you make it to 15 minutes, eventually someone comes along with a gun and kills you for maybe 1000 metal if you were able to get a pickaxe together, or some other fresh spawn just beans you with a rock and that's game over because the combat is so bad you're basically just hoping one of your attacks hits because of lag.

No one willing to help each other out is why this game is ballbags. There's a reason why none of the servers of Rust have thriving communities - it's because everyone is a piece of crap.

The game is just really poorly balanced, sorry to break it to you. It shouldn't be so difficult to find any kind of resources at all, and then impossible to do anything with them unless you find someone else's stuff. The maps need to be even larger or have lower player counts. 50 max. Spawn us deliberately far away from each other. Give players a reason to move into the middle of the map rather than just camping the spawn areas, which is what everyone does. If you want to make a survival deathmatch game, make one. This is like Minecraft but you can't actually survive longer than 30 minutes until someone comes along, kills you and steals everything you managed to scavange, forcing you to start again... what am I starting again for? So I can just get killed again? There's no "match" to play, no "winner".

I may have to move into modded servers then since it's too late for a refund. Shame though, it would be nice to play the game as clearly intended by the designers. I'm being given tasks to complete but how the hell does it expect me to "collect 30 cloth" when even a damn warthog can kill me with one hit. I got lucky ONCE in 5 hours of play and found an area that was spawning chickens, so I managed to do it. This was the one and only time I found enough cloth for a sleeping bag.

Make a spear asap upon spawning. This will allow you to defend yourself better from pigs and other players. I recommend playing on low pop community servers to learn the game. Officials are extremely tough, especially for a new, solo player. You can even find solo only servers where there are no big grps and the playing field is even more lvled. Sorry for my earlier post, i can sometimes forget how difficult this game is to learn. Good luck, and i wouldnt give up till after you have at least built a base and played a little further into the game.

i seldomly throw the spear, just stabbing with it does more damage. i only throw them if i have multiple or somebody is super hurt and trying to get away

as for the lag issue, you might be getting bad frames. have you tried turning your settings down? or simply playing on a low pop server? the official servers have so many players and buildings, they tend to get jerky regardless of ping.

sounds like you just respawned 2-3 times and got sick of it you should try to start in the snow or atleast craft a spear before anything and practise your pvp its not always like that, also look up on yt how to stop lag or fps drops its not that hard

Its not hard, but it can be a lot for a new player to absorb. But yes, watching a few tutorial vids on youtube on how to get started would be a huge benefit.
