Rust
1 Large Box VS 3 Small Boxes
Hi everyone.

Is there a particular reason to prefer 1 Large Box instead of 3 Small Boxes? I've played Rust for a month and I still cannot understand why everyone uses Large Boxes even in small bases where space is critical. 3 Small Boxes provides, with the same space, one more line of slots compared to 1 Large Box, so why choosing this last one?

Thank you :)

It is just easier to have everything in one box instead of three and also people place the large boxes on shelves which saves alot of room.

accessibility is another point... sometimes you have space to put the box vertically (small side to you) and if you try to put 3 small ones, you just won't be able to open them... at least not the last one....

Yea you can fit 4 big boxes on salvaged shelves. Its nice to have a big box full of the same items.

I have a big reason and a small reason.

Big reason, I like to be able to place all that I want in one chest. So if I have a mixture of stone and wood, I can just go to the one chest instead of having to go through multiple chests. Not to mention, when it comes down to building your loot up, having to build 60 small boxes to hold all of it doesn't sound like my cup of tea. Typically my bases have about 16 large boxes at the end of the first day for a wipe, filled with resources, weapons, clothing, armor, and meds. Having small boxes just isn't practical for all that.

Small reason, bout a month ago, was getting raided and hunkered down behind one of my boxes in my loot room and had the boxes sprawled out infront of the hallway so when the enemy came, they had to crouch across the boxes. So I had a fun time gunning them down while I was getting plenty of protection from enemy fire. If i had small boxes, I would not have had that much cover and probably woulda died.

The small reason was nearly more writing and the big reason xD

Well the small reason was a story, had to provide context. I could of just put large wood boxes make good cover or obstacles during a raid i guess lol

Thank tou all! Now I finally have reasons to choose Large Boxes (or a mix of the two boxes types)

try 4 big boxes on shelf and then 4 or 5 small boxes in front of the shelf in one square room.
then garage door or double doors and its a nice full loot room.

Another way you can set your boxes up is via a loot room. Takes up 1x1 space but its the best way to secure it because not only do raiders have to get to the area where loot is at, but they have to blow one more door to get to it.

way to set this up is build two half walls on top of eachother and place a floor inbetween them. fill in the remaining walls and put a ceiling on your loot room and go ahead and upgrade that. build 4 boxes, and place them parrallel to the two half walls that you first placed. once you have your boxes down, place a doorway (or door frame if you prefer double doors) and get a door and code lock on.

its what i do for all my loot rooms because raiders still have to guess if there is actually loot inside or if its just another part of the charm of my bases lol
