Oil Rig Worth doing?

Pretty self explanatory, I see a lot of players requesting the location of the rig early on in the wipe. When I've done it, it just seems like a high risk for little reward. Cargo is a piece of cake and offers so much more loot. Anything I'm missing?

Oil rig is one of the best monuments in Rust. There are two oil rigs, small and large. The small oil rig will usually yield around 750-1250 scrap and 100-200 HQM each time you do it. This includes doing the locked crate and the heavy scientists. If you are experienced in Rust you can take small oil solo with mid tier guns (I suggest either a SAR or a bolt SMG combo, this enables you to take some scientists out from your boat). Large oil is a bit harder but also yields more loot, if you are good at the game you COULD take it solo but i prefer at least two people. Usually it gives me roughly 2000 scrap and 200-300 HQM when I do it, this obviously also includes doing the locked crate with the heavy scientists. If you do not know what these are I suggest you look on youtube before you do oil. Both oil rigs offer massive amounts of loot as well as the ability to get good blueprints as they have elite crates and the locked crate. If you do oil a couple times you will get the hang of it and will be able to do it everytime without issues. The risky part of oil rig is the fact that you might get countered by geared players as Oil Rig is a very popular monument. Over all oil rig is 100% something you should be doing as its the easiest way of getting high tier blue prints and guns.

Thanks, I must be doing something wrong because I only ever get 200 scrap per run.

Are you playing vanilla? Are you recycling? Are you doing large or small? The figures for scrap I gave were after recycling. Even without recycling you should get more then 200 scrap I think. Are you looting the scientists?

Small oil is totally worth, large is really difficult. Just give it a go! The loot is better in the crate at oil too

I got 200 scrap without recycling, I should've taken than into account. I looted the scientists as well.
