Drinking water?

Ok so i have owned this game for a long, long time but not played it much, installed and launched the game last night, made a small hut, bed, camp fire and managed to kill a animal for meat, then i noticed on the bottom right a notification saying i was dehydrated ....... Turns out you cant drink sea water realistically.

I ran around the map for what seemed like 20 - 30 mins and could not find any other water water source, no lakes or rivers ...... Safe to say i ended up dying from dehydration.

How the hell do i find drinking water?

Hi,

Exactly as "The_Administrat0r" told here. Getting food and water is something you need to do soon after you start. You can drink directly from bodies of water "in land", and also from rivers. You need to get through the supermarket, should you spawn near river you will also find a lot of food around it (like pumpkins), and the hills (orange/brown color on map) has mushrooms, also useful.

If you want to learn the basics, find for "PVE" server (player vs environment). There is no raiding or killing on the servers, its just you and the map.

@Tommy yeah I joined a PvE server, I know this game can be pretty unforgiving for newbies like me so......

Don't suppose anybody knows of a map that would contain locations of rivers and/or lakes?
