Rust
What's the point in playing it?
Seems like there's no progression system implemented, server wipes are monthly so even if you are rich person in the server, you will lose everything after the wipe. Also those raids and community doesn't help to make the game more fun. What's the point in playing it? Especially when you have no friends to play with?

blueprints wipe every month, coinciding with force wipes, most official servers wipe every week if I'm not mistaken, You're right though, there is no long term purpose (I mean there's skins but you can't earn cool ones through in game achievements, just randomly at any time accessed through your main menu inventory. Other than that there is not point. most people build bases, pvp, explore, create relationships (rarely) and at the end of the week raid each other with all the loot they've accumulated over the past 7 days. Zergs suck but if you haven't realized by now that's how you play the game. I have over 500 hrs with this god awful game (200 hrs which consist of load times) and haven't bothered joining a clan, going solo will only get you as far as a pipe gun will. the point in playing rust is for skill building and experiences you have with the game, it's all about learning how to play the game than actually playing the game.

You can always avoid zergs by playing community servers with a limit on grp size. There are even servers for solos only. But to the main question, its like any other sandbox game. You just do what you want. You CAN push to progress through the tech asap so you can raid ppl like most players do. This is much easier to do as a solo or new player on one of the servers i mentioned. But you can also do plenty of other things. Build a shack by bandit and gamble for your loot. Make a shop with vending machines and trade for the tech/resources you need, even when you arent online. You can build a trap base and see what sort of good loot ppl bring you. You can even build a sniper tower and just roof camp a populated area, although that last one will make lots of enemies. :steamhappy:

I dunno man.. whats the point of playing COD, Battle Field, FIFA, NBA Cities skylines, DayZ, Fortnite, PUBG etc. All games are stupid at their core.. I honestly dunno man probably just to kill some time while time kills us :/

Well this is what you get when you support Early Access. Stop supporting the root of the problem and the problem will eventually sort itself out in future. Rust is a cult culture game. That's why it gets the attention it does and a lot of the attention it gets is from children and youth - impressionable minds are the target audience. People who are willing to throw a crap load of money at skins are the people they want playing this game. They not only profit on the sale of the game, but as well from every single skin sale. It's not about being a good game. It's about the money going from peoples' bank accounts or wallets into Valve's and Facepunch Studios'. The game targets impressionable minds that are willing to spend more money than they did on the game itself.

Your money is all that mattered to these companies.

RUST has a lot of servers with limits or conditions for just about any way you want to play..even Battle Royale.

There are NO RAID NO KILL servers too if you just want to explore and build without having to die and lose everything you farm. Some of these servers last more than a month. Just got to look around for what you want.

No Friends? That's on you to go find them. There are lots of people looking for friends out there too.

Yeah, but when you consider the cult culture phrase this community uses more than it should, "Never trust in Rust." how are people supposed to find friends when they're supposed to trust nobody? This is why people have such a problem finding friends to play this game with. Everyone is out to screw everyone - including their friends.

Your logic doesn't really fit the bill for this game.

I made some irl Friends in this game, so you can take the risk in trust someone

I like to compare this game to Kenshi

It is aimless fun till your bored with it
There is no progression of meaningful growth only the server you are on and the story that is created from all the grief and torment you and other players inflict on each other every day

Items.loot.bases. none of it really matters let's be real. It's the vile destructive behavior people commit and the joys you feel knowing you dominated over someone else. It's why we play competitive games. And why we play rust
At least some of us anyway. Other people are trick into thinking "it will be fun" only be victims of the endless cycle of killing, looting, and raiding,

Honestly I hope one day someone finds the secret Formula that could change survival games into something worth wild and bring everyone fun and excitement but until then they are just be a ♥♥♥♥ simulator with some survival aspects in them

There is 1 point in playing rust , sandbox . You do what you want . Lets say i feel like doing some farming and building , i have minecraft , rust (pve servers for building) , creativerse , then i have some RTS games too .

Lets say i feel like playing some pvp fps games , there CoD , overwatch , paladins , rust , then there other arcade and 3rd person shooter .

Lets say i continue giving example and rust always becomes listed , because with modded or even your own server , you can do whatever you want to . Unlike other game that are restricted to certain genre , rust cover alot and does mix and match depending on the server you join .

I was curious about kenshi. Its similar to rust, in your opinion? As to your other points, the killing, raiding, and looting IS the fun. I know, when i was a little kid, i loved to build forts and play guns with my brother/friends. I feel like rust is the video game version of that, made for those same little kids that have grown up. I think ppl choose to feel toxicity when they get killed/raided. Its like being a poor loser in League, or CSGO. Nobody wants to be on the recieving end, but thats how games work. For somebody to win, somebody else has to lose. Otherwise, youre just handing out participation trophies... and we all have seen what those did to kid's development.

Kenshi let's you do whatever you want as long as you know your prob are going eventually die or worst (sometimes you get lucky and die) other times you may end up in a cage during a ninja raid on a holy nation fortress and get trapped there for 3 real life days

what i was trying say about rust is people play rust for the drama and toxic players. the game needs a bunch of scum playing the game in order to keep the violance and action going
if no one got upset then we wouldnt have so many "revange" moments and or "salty zerg" videos
it gives goals to people
Dyex Jul 24, 2019 @ 10:16am
That's streamers and content creators. Of course they need to stage "drama" or some outrageous pvp or else no one would watch it.
Otherwise I agree with the guy above a lot with many players.
Most dont look to learn the game mechanics pass learning gun recoil really and just focus on pvp and quit when raided or even that game session.
