I can not make myself permanent ADMIN
I have tried to in the server command line :
ownerid "STEAMID" "NICKNAME"
I get back a positive on that,
Then I server.writecfg
server.save
restart 10

I also go into RUST into the consol command line and type ownerid "STEAMID" "NICKNAME"
I get a positive response that I am now the mod here also.

Ok, I then server.writecfg , server.save

then log out of the game and log back in and I am admin!

YAY!

I log back out now and restart the server, restart RUST and log back in and I'm no longer admin.

WTF?
I also went into C:\RUSTSERVERS\server\SERVER1\cfg and placed in the server.cfg file the following command:
ownerid "STEAMID" "NICKNAME"
and save the .cfg file.

I also have put +ownerid XXXXXXXXXX LEXINATOR in the start up .bat file for my server and saved it. I still get logged in every time as a normal user......

It's been a week I have been trying to figure this out on my own and I have nothing but grey hairs left on my balding head.

Can someone please teach me the correct way to make myself admin and keep it that way on my server?

Much appreciated.
Lexinator.

Under your settings where you input the rust server name and description it should have an ownerid section, place your steam64ID there

You mean in the .bat file?

Maybe also make sure you restart and not reset?

server.writecfg

always enter after any changes

Would also be helpful, When you have all the settings set if it works. Just copy all it and place that somewhere in a notepad. so you can go back to it and just copy and paste it if something happens and need to do it over again. makes it faster and easier.

All the replies here are asking me questions I have already answered in the OP!

Still waiting for some one who can read to answer the post.

How about I have something worth saving first?
Let's get it to save and then I can think of "Other things"

Maybe you should read the word more clearly next time?
The word says clearly "RESTART"

I host this server myself from my home.

Under your settings.......................................................... huh?
Thats extremely miss leading and if I was a real noob it would send me searching for hours for an answer that is not even there.

There is no "SETTINGS"

Are you referring to the .bat file to start the server?
Are you referring to the .cfg file in the server directory?

WHAT are you talking about?
