Rust

Is Rust worth buying for solo play (logging 5-10 hours a week)?
I've always wanted to start playing an MMO survival game but I'm not in a position to play for several hours a day. Similarly I do not have any friends interested in the genre so I'd be playing solo. Out of all of the survival games out there Rust looks like the best one but I have to wonder, how "good" will it be if I am on this game for 5-10 hours a week without a group? Do I simply not stand a chance and would be better off saving my money?

Thanks in advance.

Is any survival game worth that? Nope.

Rust is very not solo friendly unless you find a solo server. check the subreddit because on the main servers you'll get ganked/raided pretty much constantly.

well if you looking to play this game for the solo survival you are going to have a hard to the a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥ that play this game, And you have to be careful seeing aother player. Most likely that player will shot you in the face and if its a naked he will try to bow are spear you in the face, but if you can get past the first hardest part of the game. starting off as a naked, because that part its just full with getting shot in the face by gear people or get chase down by nakeds try to kill you for you loot. once all thats done you have to choices, you can repeat to cycle that you with threw when starting off naked or try to by seim friendly with nakeds and players, but just wacth out if you give them something they may also try to kill you with it.

Yeah, I figured as much but wanted to ask incase it wasn't as bad as I suspected. I guess I won't be trying the MMO survival genre for a while to come.

Thanks for the replies and have a good one. :)

hey Barney, I play solo on Rust, it's very hard, but worth it. I reccommend finding a med pop server on large map. you wont be the guy with a massive base, but it's intense sneaking thru bushes when you know clans are near by, or going for airdrop all by yourself. raiding will be hard for you, but it's hands down my favorite game...its the only game ipplay on pc, as I am a Xbox One guy. but the price is worth it. make sure and google the best settings for your machine tho

i bought this game to play wth a group of friends, but they stopped playing right when i got it. As thus i am a solo player and while it is hard to get started it can be very fun. I play a similar amount of time and would DEFINETLY recommend rust

I would recommend it but you need people to play with or your view on the game will be negative.

Actually i know this is hard to beleive but you can make friends inside of Rust, I used to play with my friends and then they quit in legacy I came back a year later went to a modded server joined a clan played with them for a few weeks then I left the clan with a certain amount of people then I played they betrayed me I met this guy who was really good and I played with him for a while then he threw me out and this other guy and now I play with this other guy and his friends. Rust is just one big journey of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up friend ship

I appreciate all of the replies (and the chat I had with hereticdbd).

I'm still on the fence about Rust. I think a big part of it is not knowing how I will feel about the game until I've given it a shot but that's not possible without commiting to a purchase. Who knows, I might get lucky and they do a free weekend at some point. For now I will pass on it.

No wiser words were ever spoken. A sound decision. Don't expect any free weekends with Rust though. The best you might get is a discount for 25% off if that. They want your money. heh
