Rust downloads workshop content randomly while playing

Hi, so this has been going on since I've got the game, I will just be playing with a good 30ms ping and then out of nowhere it will literally spike up to 21000 ping (not even exagerating i have screenshots!) and when I alt+tab, it shows steam downloading 5 to 20mb of workshop content, now while this doesnt sound so bad, I have a VERY slow connection, allowing me only about 200kb/s so you can imagine how long these "updates" take me to dl, well this whole time im in game and unabled to do anything cause 20k ping, I've died a lot of times cause of it and it is getting very anoying..

Things I have tried: Turned background downloads and auto updates off in steam settings , reinstalled game, validated files and smashed keyboard, none worked.

Any suggestions?

TL:DR steam downloads random 20mb workshop content patches while ingame and my ping goes up to 20k literally getting me killed all the time.

yes same is going on with me the only way right now is to use netlimiter other than that Im trying to find a way to stop it its freaking annyoing

i guess this happen when u play in servers with the skin plugin, /skin. Because the workshop need to download that skin u are seeing. I has a server and i has the "auto downloads"

he's right, its mostly the skins, scripts and mods from the server, if you turn skins off in console (cant remember the cmd but there is one) it fixes it but then you end up getting errors and everything goes south

On steam page,upper left- click on "View",then at the bottom,"settings".From there scroll down to downloads and check box for the between times you want rust content to download.Preferrably when you're sleeping.

Sorry grizman, but that's not how it works, background download is turned off, auto update is turned off, rust will still enforce a download when it wants to, we are not talking about rust patches here but rust workshop content being downloaded in game, if it was as simple as turning it off in the settings we wouldnt all be here would we?
