How do Research or know how to craft a large planter box im quite confused
Does anyone know how to get one?

Both, scrap is found in barrels and crates and the planter box is also found in barrels. Not the red oil ones though.

Is it rare to find one? mainly because i have been breaking barrels for a while and havent found one

Kind of, there are a lot of items in barrels so the odds are probably in the 1-2% range.
