Singleplayer / No wipes?
I've played before and I felt like the online experience was just too hostile for me. I found a RP server eventually and played for a one week wipe. Co-founded a nice town, made some contests, lots of building, very fun.

However, things like that need dedication, and you need to get online regularily, especially considering that after a week everything gets reset.

So what I would like to do is start a singleplayer game. I have tried setting up a local server before using SHADOWFRAX's guide... For some reason it has been deleted now, so I'll have to find another source if I want to do it again.

Doing so did actually let me enjoy the game in singleplayer, as purely PvE.

Now it's been around a year since I did that, and I have a few questions:
-Is there an official "create server" or "singleplayer" mode now or do I still need a server kit?
-Is there any way to keep this server on an older version and NOT apply updates, resulting in a wipe?
-Is singleplayer still fun? (Bradley, Chopper, Scientist AI, Blueprint System)

Thanks, Migel

yes you can create a dedicated server at your pc (free of charge) : Shadowfrax said he would make a new guide. But when this will be? Only Shadowfrax knows ;)

The dedicated server upgrades every time you start your server, don't know if you can stop the update.
Is single player still fun? just go and try it out yourself ;)

Thanks! I'll try as soon as I got around to re-downloading Rust!

Keep the auto update command out of the batchfile used to start the server.
For the client, just go in to the game files of Rust, find the exe and start it as administrator. This is, I think, the only way to start it without updating. You can probably just make a shortcut to the desktop and set the properties of the exe to admin always.
However over time some very exciting updates are going to be released. You will have to restart then, if you want them.
