Rust
Have Toxic Players Taken over Rust?
In my rust experience, there seems to be three distinct types of players. The friendly casual player, the friendly gunning player, and the toxic players. The casual players tend to gather, build, rinse and repeat for fun. the friendly gunners are like the guardians of the casual players, shooting down toxic threats that cause problems for them. Then we have our toxic player, the guy who goes around killing new spawns, raiding just started bases, always causing trouble and never giving the new spawns a chance to start. This has caused a couple trickle down issues for server owners and the people who play in those servers.

Let us dig a little deeper into the cause and effect of toxic gaming and how it has swept and taken over rust accross all servers. To start, we need to look at both sides. For the toxic gamer this is fun and we can understand the fun in triggering others. However this has a unique effect in rust servers. A New player joins a server, runs around for 15 min gathering a couple rocks, trees, and some food to get started, before this player has had a chance to get even a little set up is shot down by a player with a gun. This new spawn player loses motivation to play on server and usually leaves to find another, thus preventing the potential rise of the server pop. This player will go to another server and have the same experience in their first 30 min and leave and join another until they quit playing all together, leaving only the toxic behind.

This never seemed to be much of a problem in the past, but a growing issue as of late. At one point in time, people were more respectful and careful of how they affect the server pop, i mean, cmon, whats the fun in playing in the server you built in if you run everyone off to another server? Eventually you end up playing alone or with so little people its not even worth tell next wipe.It seems rust has been damaged a bit by this type of gameplay and has a grimm outlook for the future if it continues down this path. A possible solution to be considered is a mod or setting that would take the ability to give or take damage from other players for the first hour. We believe this is a good and viable solution to a problem with the majority player experience and is worth consideration at the very least.

Thank you for reading, please feel free to add to the topic and tell us your opinions on this matter and your experiences with rust over your time playing it. Cheers! To a better player experience on Rust?

There is a mod/plugin that protects new spawns from engaging in PVP for a set amount of time. It stops them from attacking and being attacked by other players. It is called Start Protection http://oxidemod.org/plugins/startprotection.1342/

Yes and no. While a majority of rust players are young (16 and less, sorry if I'm calling out), there is toxicness in the community but there are some servers with legit people. I may have 100 hours but I'm mature and understand things take time and this game is mostly all clans destroying everyone's base. It makes no sense. I just wanna play a game where I'm surviving in a world.

No toxic players have not broke Rust. Cry babies like you just need to quit.
Says that guy with a private profile who probably has like no hours on rust, or has hours on rust and is a ♥♥♥♥ player

Ive actually quit playing rust for this reason. PVP and raiding is part of the game and thats cool. But its so repetative and boring now. Same thing every wipe. Same types of people. History repeats itself.
