What is bait for Fish Traps???

Yeah um i made my fish traps on the shore but now i don't know what the bait to use is.
Can somone please help me on it? Thanks!

Any bait that would otherwise give you 50 calories will give you a chance at catching small trout which is the end game of fishing. I have found the best thing to use is corn that is at least 70% mature. The reason for this is you don't have to cook the bait first (like pork, bear, etc). There are also ways to grow your own corn vs killing animals for bait or using cooked fish (less overall yield). Most of the online info/wiki about fishing/growing food is not accurate.

corn and pumpkins are allright for me.. if you find some make sure you keep the seeds and plant them near your base.. come back in a couple hours and you got some great food

Thanks all you guys! I used this info and it works pretty well, but I do have to say one thing, and it's that a mushroom could catch fish too. Mushrooms have less than 50 calories i thought??
Also if anyone of guys wants to play some time im down!

Mushrooms are always good to use as the fish they catch grant you more of a bonus than just eating the mushroom. If you have nothing else mushrooms are a cheap way of doing it :)
