Rust
[EAC] untrusted system file "iphlpapi.dll"
Whenever I load Rust I am prompted by EAC Violation "Untrust system file (C:\Windows\System32\iphlpapi.dll)"

This is preventing me from joining any game servers

I have tried removing this file (if you're reading this from the future - I really don't encourage anyone to play around in system32), but iphlpapi.dll is actually required by EAC to work....

Tried a couple of things from other threads with EAC .dll problems:
disabling firewall
disabling anti virus
run in command-line as Admin: 'sfc /scannow'

something fishy I've found.... Running 'regsvr32 /u iphlpapi.dll' results in:
"The module "iphlpapi.dll" was loaded by the entry-point DllUnregisterServer was not found. Make sure that "iphlpapi.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again"

This command is a bit over my head, i understand the .dll would need to be registered - but why isn't it to begin with?

..anyway..

Anyone know a fix for this one beyond sketching around .dll websites for replacements? I'm stumped

Wow, still nobody has helped you? I would have in the past couple days, but I had some things come up. Good thing you bumped this up. The ihlpapi.dll is the 'IP Helper API'. It might be that the file has become corrupt or that a malicious software has replaced or injected something into the DLL.

Try doing a complete antirus and malware sweep on your system to see if there are any undesirable software present. If no malicious software is found and you believe the file is just corrupted after scanning, replace the file with the original of the operating system and then try launch your game again. Let me know how it goes for you. Good luck.

Ran through virus scans (AVG & Malwarebytes), no luck. Going to try update some drivers.

Failing that, might try a more extensive range of anti virus / malware detectors

Alright. It's possible the file is corrupted and needs to be replaced or its actually missing. Search for the DLL file. If it's gone, you can download the file from the link below. Be sure to choose the correct version for your operating system. I assume you know how to install it.
