"Killed by unknown" death message ?

I was offline raided and woke up to this death message , spoke to a friend on another server and said he had the same message . Anyone know what causes this death message when you log on ?

ya mine was after the forced wipe so i didnt think anything of it tbh ( but in 1500hrs had never seen that message ) but a friend also got offlined and had same death message today ? didnt know if there was maybe a fall death while offline that maybe caused it ? but thnks for the response !!

yeah everytime iv been killed by someone in my group while i was sleeping its said that same for everyone i know its just started doing this recently

Cannot fall while offline, your sleeper just floats in the air.

Its a feature so you can't track down offline raiders. Smh ♥♥♥♥ feature.

When the server wipes or its a server force wipe it always says unknown the other way thou is someone places landmines around your body and sets them off with a gun that way its an unknown death...hope that helps

I Want Bean Cans is correct, it is a feature to keep you from knowing who it was that killed you if they are currently offline. It may also happen at server wipe but I own my own server and I experienced this today without a server wipe or update of any kind. I had to know why I died when the server was not wiped and no one else had died over the night. killed by [unknown] using m92.entity, so I searched for players with the m92 pistol. I found that the guy who was on with me the night previous had the m92 and all my stuff... :P

Just happened to me while I was in game. Was running and then threw the tree someone started shooting at me. The name of the person that killed me was blank. just the red bot and killed by simi-auto.
