The inventory in the main menu

I was just wondering how exactly do you earn items there. I've noticed overtime i've seemed to gather a few things here and their but have completely no idea how i got them. Is it a random intervil or based on kills ect idk

They drop randomly, however, you can also buy skins

but im playing almost now a year and still only have 1 cloth nothing els. is it just bad luck ?

probably.

i've played since legacy/early access but obviously i've had breaks as i only have 4k+ hours.
got like a few weapon barrels, couple armor ones and few random hoodies here and there.

I mean the drops are like shirts and stuff. Not usually that great.

Buy skins and they show up there too.
