I'm a solo player as well, sometimes I may play with a friend but 95% of the time I go lone wolf.

I joined a server lastnight that had like 3 people in it so I used that to my advantage and built myself a home and crafted a lot of good stuff. So that could be one tip: When a server is not as busy as usual, use it to your advantage and go for those airdrops.

Dont trust anyone, especially if they are in a group or with friends, theyll most probably kill you and rob you.

Stay way clear of the patrol helicopter unless you have know you can take it on, stay low behind rocks etc if it comes near you or hide in a building. It only attacks (if I'm not mistaken) if you have a ranged weapon and 3 clothing items equipped, so remove them and you should be fine.

In a busy server, stay low and keep slow (with a weapon equipped). I dont use my torch or any other light during the night in case anyone sees me and kills me, it can be hard to see in the dark though but try and use the light of the moon as best as you can.

Try and craft a spear, club, knife or bow as quickly as possible, youll need food and a means to defend yourself. I prefer the bow as an early game weapon.

Try and scout out other player houses, mark them on the map. If you're low on food harvest their crops if they have any (this doesnt destroy them, they grow back).

Airdrops, even in a low count server can be dangerous, so scout it out, watch from the distance because chances are you're being watched. Be careful of traps too. If you get there first, loot the good stuff and set a trap, but that's up to you.

If a bear is coming for you, quickly build a foundation for you to jump on so the bear cant get you, or just jump on a boulder. Those bears are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ relentless as hell.

Good tips. I also craft a map first thing and look for areas that most people wont want to build and stay far away from other bases especially large ones. Learn to build bases so good noone will want to raid you, clever bases, hidden bases. Learn to hide your best loot very well. I also throw away or hide loot for explosives, if you raid me i want it to hurt you more than it hurts me.

Survival tips when joining any server as a fresh spawn.

1. Get a weapon asap (spear or bow)
2. Pick up food while running around.
3. Get a stone hatchet and pick.
4. Build a very cost effective module base. The cheapest and by far the best that i use is to build one square as my center, then i build triangles on each side. This will give you two layers of protection and a airlock. You can then expand on this basic base however you want.

Survival tips in general.

1. Shoot first ask questions later or just run to avoid any encounter.
2. Don't trust anyone right off the bat.
3. Don't run every where you go!
4. Mind your surroundings.
5. Sneaking is your friend.
6. Always carry around a building plan and some wood incase you encounter a bear or wolf.
7. Always carry at least 3 bandages and 2 syringes and make sure they are in your action bar.
8. Always carry at least 1 bow or crossbow for stealth kills on animals.
9. Avoid populated areas such as rad towns and other player bases.
10. Don't ♥♥♥♥ where you sleep...meaning don't kill people from your base (roof camping) you will piss a lot of people off and you might kill the wrong person that will come back and raid the ♥♥♥♥ out of you just to prove a point.
11. If you're being shot at then Zig Zag while running away.
12. If you think you catch someone off guard while farming don't try and sneak up behind them....they can still see you even if their character isn't facing you. Just kill them as soon as you see them or go on about your business.
13. This is my best tip....don't get mad over this game, it is just a game. You will die more times then you can count, so get used to it.

The most important thing you should do when first starting out, even before you get a weapon... is make you a sleeping bag and place it in a big bush, close to where you plan on building. A lot of people start hunting and building before doing that, and sometimes end up losing all their stuff because of it.

Normally people don't spawn in and start building right then and there, that's why that comes later. You have to scope out a spot first. So yea, weapon first.
