Did they patch lockpicking?
I tried over 5k wood on one door (over 10 inventories full of keys) and couldn't get in?

Serves you right to be honest. Knock it down like a man next time.

No it's not patched. U just got really unlucky. I did 3 key lock raids today and 11 over a 1 week wipe.

House with a key.... Usually isnt worth raiding..

So you exploit game mechanics to try raid. You must be so proud to raid fresh starting players who pretty much have nothing. For you to try that many keys too, the other player(s) must have been offline. So, you're not only exploiting, but offline raiding as well. Sad this is what the Rust community turned into because Facepunch is too lazy to fix things.

This isn't an exploit, it's a feature to make code locks more rewarding. There are 100+ different key combinations so you most likely were unlucky. I don't believe it was patched as it was implemented on purpose.

Yes, it is an exploit because it's exploiting the limitations of the game mechanics to unlock a lock. No, it is not a feature to make code locks more rewarding. A lock is intended to be a lock whether it is a key lock or a code lock. One does not impact any features of the other. The locks have limitations due to developer design which allows them to be exploited. This was never an intended mechanic that one could make hundreds of keys to unlock a key lock. The mechanic is limited thus exploitable due to its limitations. if lock picking was to be a thing, there should have been a real lock picking mechanic put into the game, but there is none and nothing has been mentioned regarding such a mechanic. Stop making excuses for these guys.

it aint a exploit if they didnt want it in the game they would have made every key different. Otherwise there is no cheap raiding technique to raid starter bases. And usually starter bases have a crap ton of stuff. last code lock i picked i got a tommy, custom, and semi (prob from airdrop cuz no bullets) 7k sulfer, 14k metal, 20 k stone, 3 ifle bodys, 7 tech trash, and a ton of other ♥♥♥♥ and it took me about 2k wood to make a door and lock and just keep trying

I love how half the dumbasses posting just assume I was key raiding bases and not just testing it to see if it still works so I can put my own keylock up without being raided. Or simply trying to get into my own base.

@porkstation there were 100 different keys before the last 2 updates and I almost always got in with 3 inventories max.

Tldr: I'm not complaining that it's fixed. Im trying to find out if it is.

What part of developer design exploit don't you understand? If it was intended to do that from the beginning, it would have been stated so and designed to do as such, but it was not. It was never made to be used in this manner so yes, it's an exploit. You really need to learn what exploits actually are before commenting in defense of a faulted game mechanic. The code lock is also exploitable that you can guess codes due to yet again, lock mechanic limitations that can be exploited. There are 10,000 possible combinations on a 4 digit PIN lock. Anyone with lots of time to waste can go through thousands of code combinations in no time thus allowing them to unlock doors through exploiting the limitations of the mechanic. You can try to endorse your logic with all the reasoning you want, but it is not going to change the fact that the mechanic wasn't designed to work that way. If it were, they wouldn't have attempted to fix it in the first place. To defend exploits is to condone cheating.

It's great you're testing to see if it's actually fixed. Is it working to date or is it still exploitable?

You go out and work for it without exploiting game mechanics like most other people who play fairly in good sportsmanship.

Hi guys, I am currently recruiting The British Empire, commonly known as TBE. The clan currently has 2 members but we are beginning to focus heavily on recruitment. We have a website, a discord, an email, a twitter account and we're working on a steam group.

Our recruitment process has a few steps the first may be a game changer, you have to be British if you are then the next step is to check your hours on Rust, if you have over 80 you are good to go. Next step you must own Discord and have a working mic. The next step requires you to be at least 15, any younger if off-limits. Finally you must be able to play at the very lowest 5 hours a week.

So now you've heard a bit about our requirements here are our policies
  • We do not shoot nakeds unless they pose a threat to our members or any of our allies.
  • No one in the clan can type in chat unless given permission by an admin or unless it's in an emergency.
  • Know your place. Respecting members that are higher ranked is key to us. Here at TBE we work around a respect based ranking system that allows the most hard working and thoughtful members to work their way up the food chain.
  • Complaining or moaning at team mates is not aloud, we like to keep positive attitudes and enjoy the game. No one likes someone who blames others for their mistakes.
  • Knowing when it's time to have fun and when it's time to play seriously is key. Don't get me wrong, here at TBE we love to arrange fun events inside and outside of Rust but knowing when to enjoy killing team-mates is important.

*Please do keep in mind that these polices may change over time, an updated post will be released if so.*

TBE's has many goals and targets we would like to meet someday.
Here are a few:
  • Our main priority would be to become well-known and well-respected to the Rust community. What I mean by this is we'd like people to want to make trade deals and alliances with our clan, but at the same time we want to be known as a force to be reckoned with.
  • In the future TBE are hoping to start a YouTube channel where we upload funny events we've hosted, raids, raid defences and other enjoyable content. If we gain a large enough ordiance we hope to use the revenue to fund a TBE server that would have everything we love about Rust all in 1 server.
  • Our very first member goal is 10 members our second will be 25. Our third member goal will be 50, we will split the members over 2 servers to really get our name out there.
  • I believe that in Rust you don't have to be great at PVP or great at building. That's why I've set-up my own separate divisions for the clan. For example we'd have 10 guys who'd PVP for us, 2 that would stay at base and craft, a dedicated builder, a team of 6 gatherer's who would collect stone, wood and metal for us. This may seem optimistic but we are dedicated and inspired by the former empire with all it's military might, all it's industrial might and all it's economical might.

So now you've heard the basic needs, goals and beliefs of our clan, here is how to contact us:
You can contact me any time and I will get back to you as soon as I can or you can contact our head of PR Jacob_GB
