I use a Dualsense controller. Here's what I've tried so far: I tried using DSX to disguise my Dualsense as an Xbox controller. I've tried switching to a wired connection (I usually use Bluetooth). I tried using Inputmapper, which doesn't even have Dualsense support and caused endless error reports until I restarted my PC. I figured out that running the game in "Windows 98 Service Pack 2" allows it to run.
