Wizardry PGMO 1.0 release date: May 23, 2024
Happy to share our 1.0 release date with everyone. It's been an intense period of time since we lauched Early Access in September, but now -- perhaps appropriately, about nine months later -- we're taking the game to 1.0 on May 23.

For those of you who also play on consoles or have friends who do, the game will also ship on Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch the same day. Also, a lot of folks have asked, but we don't have plans to bring this to mobile platforms like iOS or Android at this time -- but you Steam Deck players should continue to get along great.

We are also honored to announce that the Bestiary lore text for Wizardry: PGMO has been created by legendary Wizardry scribe Benny Matsuyama. It's exclusive to this project, so we hope that's good news for fans of his Wizardry novels and guides.

Final price is TBD but as original stated in that FAQ pinned back in September, there's a good chance it will be going up for the final release. If you've been waiting, perhaps don't wait any longer.

Looking forward celebrating at the finish line with all of you who have helped us make the project so much better with every update!

Looking forward to it on the other consoles!

Please tell me the combat speed is going to be adjustable like the original game so players can speed up or slow down the messaging system. Many people gave expressed concerns and we've heard nothing from you on this topic.

Combat speed is remaining as it appears in the current build.

Well, that's too bad. I don't understand why Digital Eclipse found it so important to allow so many adjustable options for players yet messaging speed on a turn based game is not even a concern! It makes no sense. All of the original and current Wizardry games (1-8) have this option as well as every other great turn based game out there from Bards Tale to Might & Magic. This is not a hack and slash game that was meant to be played out in real time where one speed is essential to its mechanics (like Diablo, War Craft or Elder Scrolls).

I'm very surprised and disappointed that this has been over looked or just flat out ignored. If 1.0 is launched with a nonadjustable messaging speed, then it will be a huge mistake as every other successful turned based game has this option. It will leave many old school gamers frustrated and bitter while taking away the whole nostalgic feel of the original Wizardry when players could feel the anticipation of combat at that moment while keeping up with each turn as it happened, not after each round having to rely on scrolling through a message bar that takes away from the whole anticipation of the moment. PLEASE encourage the team working on this to look at the data and not alienate some of their original old school Wizardry fans by leaving the T)ime option useless and broken.

Digital Eclipse has done such an amazing job in a short period of time bringing back a classic that set the stage for so many turned based RPGs after it. It has done an amazing job to allow players to customize settings to fit the classic game, a modernized game or hybrid of both. Why ignore an essential component such as messaging speed that the original creators knew was important and every other Wizardry game as well as its competitors put in their games?

So people who want it faster or slower like the original game are just out of luck? What happened to keeping the original mechanics of Wizardry 1 intact? It has now become a one speed fits all with a T)ime option that does not work anymore and only teases its original fan base of a time when they could keep up with details of combat at the moment or speed it up to grind.

Now your just being immature. Unlike you I'm expressing concerns for not just myself, but for others who have expressed the needs for messaging speed options in various other threads.

Heard and understood, but I cannot deliver the answer you want to hear at this time.

Excited about the full release. While I wish everyone had choices with combat speed, me personally, I like it the way it is and to me would feel too slow if any less that what it is now.

Thank you! As long as we are being heard, I will not complain. I have also been reaching out directly with Digital Eclipse and on multiple social platforms about the broken T)ime option and importance for users to control messaging speed as the original game did.

I'm glad you are enjoying it! Thanks for being understanding about allowing speed options for other players.

Are you ever going to contribute some useful feedback to the group or just continue your childish trolling of members you disagree with? At least I'm addressing concerns that other members have brought up and looking out for others. Grow up!

That would be a nice feature! Spamming Murphy's Ghost would be much more efficient. :)
