[Meta] Ratkin Farmer - breaking the game
I've started an ironman & single crystal game with the following:

Mino - Barb - Skulls / Weapon spec - level 6
Lizard - Knight - resists / weapon spec - level 6
Insect - Mage - Willpower / 10% cooldown+ - level 7
Ratkin - Farmer - mutation / dex - level 11

And...

Well, my stats are through the roof (23 dex with items, 20 vit) - not only that, but I've a feeling that I could get her to 20 by the endgame. I've only just started the bog, and have only got 6 gems (wood + other randoms). Some observations:

1) It's tricky, but it's really worth saving the first gold key and then making a run for the vault for the 25% xp necklace & crystal chest. Switch it onto the farmer to eat, otherwise it's on the mage. You can do this at level 2, requires a bit of pulling the mobs out of the area first. The rest of the party was level 4 by then.

2) Farmers get the XP bonuses for hidden treasure chests. You probably need to dig up enough to hit level 2 before running the vault, it's tricky to keep her alive at such a low level.

3) Build wise, full missile + crit + alchemy seems the best use of the skills early on. If you were fully dedicated to power-building, do the light weapons & crit build with reach.

4) Ironically, with ironman / single use crystals, the wargs become your most dreaded foe - because they have a high % of wounding. Likewise, avoid spike traps - I swam past the house of pain & double-backed which cuts a lot of danger out of that puzzle (since your farmer will be level 1 or 2 at this point).

5) Gold key spent on a rope looks sensible.

6) I've just saved in front of the herder zone. With the unlimited food farming... this could be epic.

7) The new patch gives hp/mana regen to vit/willpower and knight evasion is working. Makes it a lot easier to survive.

So far it's been easy - whether or not the lack of potions later on will finish my chances is another matter. So far, wounds are the worst threat, and I often limp around only using potions when I have to.

I seem to recall vitality affecting the chance that wounds will heal themselves. I can't recall ever seeing that actually happen in game though.

I'm pretty sure Vit just applies to poison and disease Hutch, but I could be wrong. Never actually tried resting indefinitely to see if it would heal a wound.

I have tested this and it works, my vitality hefty minotaur will heal wounds after a bit of sleep. Also OP your build for characters is literaly almost the exact same as mine to the tee, except i have a alchemist ratling for the crystal flower farm. But all the perks you took and the classes and races are literally the exact same.

That's kind the point: it's the optimal party ;)

New patch? When is this coming? My Knight still have the issue with getting not double evasion from shields. Does that work only with starting a new game?

You can play with the patch now if you want. Right click on the game and select properties. Under the beta tab, you can opt to use the beta patch. I've been using it for ~20 hours w/o a problem.

Is it fully backwards compatible?

I was watching a guy on youtube do a let's play and he mentioned he wasn't able to continue his existing save when going from the pre-release patch to the release patch.

I'm not sure. I started with it. You can always revert back if it doesn't work. I guess just make a copy of your saves to be safe. They're in Documents/Almost Human/Legend of Grimrock 2
