Editor Discussion Thread
Hey guys, the editor is awesome! So easy to use!

Question though: is anyone else unable to "clr" the preview window? My little guys died I can't reset the preview to a fresh party.

Oh thanks! It brings my guys back to life, but they still have all the stuff from the last play, is there a way to reset their inventory etc as well?
I can just have them drop things, but clearing it would be quicker.

Keeping Inventory is a feature, new to this editor.

I see that by closing and reopening the editor I can clear everything, but perhaps I'll just place a chest at the spawn and use it as a bin in case I want to dump. Thanks for the help :)

Can't see how it'd matter (aside from auto inventory scripts you're debugging) if you keep your items you pick up [in the editor]. So why is it mandatory to rid yourself of items?

[Suggestion] You may want to watch all of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMMBC9B2qjM&list=PLQJz0uQmdFyg8NG1TGke6uxB7joLG52Nc

Ok I'll watch those. Thanks :)

I like to ditch items to test the balance. In the beginning I want to make sure that resources are scarce, but enough to survive the level. Anyway, it's just the way I like to build stuff.

Hey I've made an area transition up into a forest. I have drawn an area of forest floor, surrounded by trees etc, but the floor does not appear. It's just void beneath my feet. all my objects and tiles are at level 0, ceiling 3. Why is the forest ground not appearing?

Also, how do I create daylight?

I did the same and the floor is black. The outdoor locations are great and I wonder if this is a bug. When I export the dungeon and load it ingame it's still black.

Ah, I watched the tutorials. You need to insert the forest heightmap item into the map somewhere. Apparently the outdoor areas aren't really tiles, they're materials, which is why you can deform the terrain! So awesome.

The youtube videos linked in above by m3k you must watch. Good stuff.

My new question is this:

What can I fit a lock to? I'm trying to place it on a forest_ruin_wall and it is obscured by the wall.. :(

Can you use the editor to create new races/modify racial stats?
Beetroot Oct 19, 2014 @ 3:22pm
If you google grimrock2 there's a website and the forum there is where the real answers are.
There's all kind of scripting stuff you can do that are beyond me without "for-idiots" explanation.

I'm also interested in a text system of somekind. Seems strange there is no popup text or storytelling system in place.

Sort of, you can fake it. Such as triggers for a racial feature to happen or changing ability stats but the player would still have to choose a race/class like normal. The character creation can not be modified (as far as I know).

uploaded the first bit of my module onto the workshop. If you guys try it, let me know what you think.

Ok, thank you. I will test your module later to see what you can do with the editor ;-)
