Two methods: 1) use the hub to go to shipwreck beach and beat up on turtles for their steaks (they respawn after a while) or 2) you can click on any fish underwater to catch it.

Wargs in the forest and hamlet are a pretty decent source of food as well.

in the herders den boss fight, leave 1 plant/egg thing alone and farm the endlessly spawning herders. Each one drops herder meat and XP. I did this on Hard recently and left with 4 full inventories of meat with multiple crates filled.

Tip: Don't leave the very right plant spawner alive it can be a ♥♥♥♥♥ to get to with all the mobs that spawn.

also once you have a trident, clear out the waters of the turtles in sleet island and river zones you get heeps of meat from that too as well as the fish.

Is there really a trident or are you referring to the Zarchton Harpoon?
