Only 20 hours of gameplay?
According to the blurb its about 20 hours of game play.
I would have liked 80+ from a game of this type.

I played the first one and felt it was too short too.

Anything apart 3rd party mods going to be done to extend the content on this one?

Thats just me I'm sure many people like short sharp games too.

Are you asking if there is going to be dev-released DLC? If so, I don't know.

The community will no doubt make a bunch of content but you specifically said 3rd party mods are not what you are looking for.

You should maybe pay closer attention when reading. The blurb says:

"More than 20 hours of pure blooded dungeon crawling gameplay... with hidden switches, pressure plates, secret doors, riddles, deadly traps."

This relates to JUST THE DUNGEONS of the game, not the overworld and outdoor areas, where you can't really have pressure plates in the soil and hidden switches on trees.

I understand this means 20 hours of JUST DUNGEONS, barring the overworld.

Also, maybe don't go expecting an 80-hour campaign from a game that costs 20 bucks?

I would also love to hear the name of an 80-hour long RPG that is not turn-based / has no turn-based combat and also does not bore you out of your skull by the time you beat it?

I guess it could be read that way, its just not the way I read it.

Why not?
Many games under $20 give you many hours of game play.
e.g. Terraria, Minecraft, rougelikes...

Not turn based? You mean like Skyrim?

Terraria and Minecraft don't have structured, story-driven campaigns.

Also, Skyrim was a terrible bore by the time you hit 80 hours. :(

How about the Soul's series or maybe The Witcher?

The game includes an editor, so you can make your own content. Also, the community is very active and will undoubtedly produce some excellent, free content, too.

I wouldn't complain about the "only 20 hours" part. Most that have played have said it's between 20 (main storyline only and really trying to finish quickly) to 45. And while the campaign may end, I'd think the re-playability should be high because you can have such varied parties. There's also a difficulty level, so your next run through could be higher.

All this from a $20-something game. Pretty amazing.

I'm looking at Main + Extras. So, still, no dice! :D
Well, are you only looking at a game to beat it and never touch it again?

Hm... I doubt those twenty hours take into account the grid paper and pencil...

As a matter of fact, I am, since I have a couple of hundred unfinished games in my library at the moment. :happymeat: Epic first world problems.

I'd say those 20 hours reflects going straight through the game, without bothering to dig around for hidden extras (Toorum, treasures, the best equipment, and the optional level) which the sequel will undoubtedly have as well. Besides, $20 for 20 hours of the kind of carefully refined gameplay we saw in the first Grimrock is well worth it IMO.

what about the untold hours the wokshop modders release? also a game overstaying its wellcome is never good. I'd rather have a shorter game wich is exciting all the way to the end then a game thats 80% filler

Lets be honest, it all depends how you play.

@Echo, and Pater Sin, The 2 posts above mine.
Totally agree with what both guys wrote.
20 hours for 15 quid = winner.
And I would rather a shorter but more enjoyable game, than one that goes on for hundreds of hours or mediocrity. (thousands in my case. chuckle*

When I hear 10 hours, or 15 hours, I can double/triple it for me.
Am I a noob, lol Not at all iv been playing games for decades. But I like to enjoy a game. The Side quests, the ambiance, the story (if there is one) I never just run through like a berserker, going as fast as poss just so I can complete it.

I'm not saying that is a bad way to play. But its each to their own.
My first play-through of Arkham Origins = 60 hours. Dark Souls 1 = over 100 hours.

I read on the posts the other day some dude had completed Shadow of Mordor in 10 hours. lol good for him/her.
I am 11 hours in and have done maybe 13% of the story. Im too busy enjoying the sides, and the power struggles of the upcoming Uruks.

So unless your a "rush to complete aficionado" I would imagine LOG2 is gonna be a tad longer that 20 hours.
Well for gamers who play and enjoy, like what I does. ;)

Andy <- slow but sure. chuckle. :blackmask:

Well .. if you WANT to run past everything and only solve what's necessary to get to the end of the game then it might be about 20 to 25 hours. But when exploring, secret finding and puzzle solving is your thing then you can easy double that.
