Do you have to do the 4 square dancing?
One of the things that kept me from buying this game before was seeing a youtube playtrough where the player just kept doing the dancing around the enemy thing and I really don't like doing that.

Can I just stand and tank the hits if I make a bunch of tough characters? I'm okay with doing the step shuffle on bosses, but I really don't want to have to do it for every battle.

Well .. you can try .. but i won't recommend it for Normal or even Hard difficulty.

So the game expects you to do the sidestep dance at all times?
That's disappointing.

For most basic enemies you could potentially tank them but kiting and maneuvering are really important for this game

Well it's a matter of resources. Incoming damage during combat is virtually infinite. Yet your ability to heal during combat depends on your resources which are limited and once you run out of resources ..

As i said: you can try. I've seen Felicia Day do it a lot in her live stream on Easy difficulty and she found it challenging. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdmlfIlCURQ

I've noticed some enemies have a way to stop this exploit. For example the undead knight with axe and shield, they can attack instantly. So if you try to step in and attack, they will always get you. And the twigroot things can move side to side very quickly. And the root boss is pretty tough even for a seasoned veteran like myself.

Square dancing often won't work for the reason just given. Maneuvering matters, but you have to be more flexible and situationally aware about it.
