While the base weapons damage being multiplied by 10 is nice, what's really special is having your STR multiplied by 10 instead of the 2x a normal crit delivers.
So I set to work making a pure STR minotaur barbarian will all the skulls and STR gear I could find with the intent of using rage potions on bosses to get hilariously high crits.
While the damage was certainly there on crits I found the crit chance to feel lower than I expected.
With a 5/5 critical PC with the bronze brace and the passive 5% crit boost from having the Scythe equipped the stat card shows 28% crit. With the +10% from harvest time that's 38%.
I couldn't quite figure out exactly how often I was criting but it felt low so I decided to run a test.
200 Hits against undeads. 61 crits, 139 normals (misses ignored). 30.5% crit chance.
I highly suspect that based on my findings the 10% crit chance from harvest time is not a flat addition but a modifier to the crit chance displayed on the stat card. If that's true than my crit chance would have actually been 30.8% (28 x 1.1) which is very close to the results from my testing.
While there is no denying its impressive dps (when it decides to cooperate) I'll stick to the ancient claymore for its more consistant damage output.
